Ignition Backs Symplified

Seattle-based Ignition Partners has led an investment in a developer of cloud-based, identity management software. According to Symplified, it raised $20M in the round led by Ignition, and also included its prior investors, Allegis Capital, Granite Ventures, and Quest Software. Ignition Partners’ Cameron Myhrvold has joined Symplified’s board of directors with the investment. Symplified is based in Colorado. More information »

Gigabyte T1006 Convertible Cedar Trail Netbook Officially Announced

Gigabyte is still holding down the convertible netbook market with a new addition to its line up with the Gigabyte T1006 netbook with a hinge that allows it to turn into a tablet. This 10.1 inch tablet looks pretty much like every other Gigabyte convertible netbook with the same chassis design that has ever come to market.  There are a few differences though: its running the latest Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor and offers a 1366 x 768 display resolution under a capacitive touch screen.

The T1006 also offers a premium USB 3.0 port alongside 2 x USB 2.0 ports, SD card reader, VGA, ethernet, audio jacks and an HDMI port. We

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks Go Up For Pre-order

Samsung recently announced a new range of ultrabook notebooks, the Samsung Series 5, and now both models have appeared online for pre-order with retailer J&R, with the 13.3 inch version starting at $800 and the 14 inch version starting at $949.

As a reminder the 14 inch model comes with up to 1TB of storage whilst the 13.3 inch model comes with up to 500GB of storage, or you can choose up to a 128GB solid state drive and a total of 8GB of RAM.

Other specifications include HDMI, WiFi, Ethernet, VGA and AMD HD7550M graphics, and both models come with an Intel Core i5 processor.
